Customer support for indie hackers and small SaaS products

If you ship more than one product, each one needs somewhere for customers to ask questions. One Roper Pro plan covers up to 3 workspaces, each with its own inbox, help center and widget, for $19 a month.

The short answer

Indie hackers who run several small products can use one Roper Pro plan at $19 a month for up to 3 separate workspaces. Each workspace has its own inbox, help center, chat widget, feedback board and team, so customers of one product never see another's. It is hosted only, has no free plan, and leaves out phone, social channels and workflow rules.

Roper is made by the team that wrote this post. Figures for other tools come from their own public pages, listed under Sources, and are list prices in US dollars that can change.

Why support is different when you have several small products

Each product needs its own help center and its own place for questions, but you do not want three subscriptions or three logins. Per-seat and per-product pricing punish the person with many small products and one pair of hands.

How the workspaces work

  • One plan, 3 workspaces. The first workspace is paid at checkout. Up to 3 are covered by the same Pro plan with no extra checkout. A fourth needs its own payment, or a move to Team (up to 10).
  • Fully separate. Each workspace has its own inbox, help center, widget key, feedback board, team and settings. Its data sits in its own database.
  • One person to run them. You switch between workspaces in the app. Your seat allowance (3 on Pro) follows the plan.
  • Nothing deleted if you stop. If a subscription lapses, the workspaces switch off. Subscribing again turns them back on with all their data.

A low-effort setup for each product

  1. Create the workspace and set its brand name, colour and greeting.
  2. Paste its script tag into that product.
  3. Write the five articles that cover your most common questions. The help center and the bot read the same articles.
  4. Link the help center and feedback board from your product's footer, using the addresses shown in Settings.

The method behind this is in how to run customer support as a solo founder and how to reduce support tickets.

Honest limits

  • No free plan or trial. The live demo is open without signing up.
  • The widget shows a small "Powered by Roper" credit.
  • No phone, WhatsApp or other social channels, no SLA timers, no routing rules.
  • The AI answers questions from your articles; it does not perform account actions.
  • Support analytics are on Team, not Pro.

Questions

Common questions

Can I run support for multiple products with one account?
Yes. Pro includes up to 3 workspaces and Team up to 10. Each has its own inbox, help center, widget and team.
Is there a free plan for side projects?
No. Roper is paid only. If a product has almost no support volume, a plain email address may be enough until it does.
Will customers of different products see each other?
No. Workspaces are isolated: each has its own public key, data, help center and feedback board.
Can I remove the Roper branding?
Not currently. The widget and public pages carry a small "Powered by Roper" credit, and custom domains for help centers are not built yet.
What if one product needs more seats?
Pro covers 3 seats. If you add more teammates, Team has unlimited seats and up to 10 workspaces.
